Busch Gardens Williamsburg: A Plus-size Friendly Amusement Park

Amusement Parks and all the fun that come along with them can be a great thing to get into this summer. You can do it as a road trip, a girl’s trip, or as a family outing.  If you're like me, you find yourself hesitant because you don't know if you can fit in all the rides or you're hesitant to wait until you get all the way there to even try.

In the past I've had this problem, which is one of the reasons why I don't bother going to Six Flags and a number of other amusement parks. Nothing is more embarrassing than holding up a ride on a super busy hot day because you can't fit.  The walk of shame is even worse. You walk past the riders you've held up and almost the entire line – this can be gruesome.  But don't fret, there is one amusement park I know of that has accommodations for plus-size visitors.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is located at 1 Busch Gardens Boulevard, Williamsburg, VA 23185. Their phone number is 800.343.7946.  I've gone to this park numerous times and try my best to make this an annual destination.  On many of the Busch Gardens coasters they have extended seats.  These seats are almost always in the middle of the seating arrangements and have two straps in the shape of a V that secures the guards as opposed to the one strap that normally secures rider guards.  These seats have allowed me to enjoy many great times with my friends and family.  I strongly suggest you visit for at least a couple of days; I like to go for a week in order to enjoy everything.  In addition to Busch Gardens, they have Water Country in the same vicinity, which is an amazing Water Park where for the most part, size doesn't matter. I myself have never had any issues with any of the attractions at Water Country.

A Busch Gardens Single-Day Ticket will cost you $75 for ages 10 and over and $65 for ages 3 to 9.  To enjoy both parks they have two great options: there's the Busch Gardens + Water Country USA 2-Park Summer Flex for $85 which allows you to enjoy both great parks for 7 days between May 15th - Sept 7th.  The other option is the Busch Gardens + Water Country USA 2-Park Fun Card for $100 which allows you to enjoy unlimited visits to two great parks through Sept. 7th.  There is a ton of lodging and dining options, as Busch Gardens is to Williamsburg what Time's Square is to New York City.  So hop on the plane, train, or automobile and head on over for some plus-size fun.
