On Saturday, January 22, the Fatty Friendly, Shapely Approved brand; VayKay Swimwear celebrated their two-year anniversary with an iconic fashion show in the windy city of Chicago. Hosted by creative director and founder, Elizabeth Johnson. The black tie affair and fashion show featured items from their Spring 2022 collection and inspirational words from keynote speaker Ryan Henry, founder of 9MAG Tattoo and star of the VH1 reality TV series, Black Ink Crew Chicago. Plus a live performance of the popular song, “Long Way” by local artists GQtheFool featuring J Tooks.

VayKay Swimwear, made its official launch on January 17, 2020 during the initial outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Tired of experiencing ill-fitting swimsuits for her own curves, Elizabeth decided to create her own stylish, size-inclusive and affordable swimwear line. When asked what the key highlights were from the show, Elizabeth stated “Making the day special and intimate for her friends, family and original supporters was important.” Since the brand was not afforded the opportunity to have a huge launch from the beginning. Elizabeth wanted to make sure to celebrate and launch the new VayKay Swimwear 2022 Spring collection with the people who matter most.

In short, the glitzy evening and celebration of VayKay Swimwear’s anniversary ended with wise words from keynote speaker, Ryan Henry who spoke eloquently about the trials of entrepreneurship and reminded attendees and Ms. Johnson to: “Look at all these people in support of you for being a business owner… the only way we get here is because of people supporting us. So, I want you to know that every moment of this is special…”
