Fatty Friendly, Family Run, and Scratch Made: Why Taino’s in Kissimmee Deserves the Hype

Let me start with the truth. I was not planning to blog about this place. I was hungry and minding my business. We were put on to Taino’s by Kat and my only intention was to eat and keep it pushing. The moment I stepped inside Taino’s Bakery in Kissimmee, Florida, I knew that plan was over.

The vibe alone earned their respect

Before the food even hit the table, the energy did. The space felt warm and family oriented. This wasn’t a trendy spot trying to go viral. This was a real place, built with care, where people clearly felt at home. Then I noticed they scratch several things, including the bread. Not partially. Not “finished in house.” Fully scratch made. People were walking in just to buy bread. No meals. No extras. Just bread. That was my sign. I had to put my people on.

Plus size friendly in a way that actually matters

Let’s talk about why this is a fatty friendly win, because details matter. The chairs had no arms. There was plenty of seating. The tables were movable and modular, not locked into some awkward layout that makes you feel like you’re in the way. I didn’t have to shrink myself. I didn’t feel rushed. I didn’t feel watched. I felt comfortable.

Ordering felt easy. Picking up my food felt easy. There was no awkward energy, no side eye, no feeling like I was taking up too much space. I felt seen, and that alone puts Taino’s ahead of a lot of places.

The portions are aggressively generous

Now let’s get into the food, because whew. My sandwich was massive. So big that I could only eat half while I was there and had to take the rest home. And yes, it was just as good later. That’s the kind of portion that tells you they respect hunger and value their customers.

The yucca fries deserve special recognition. If you know me, you know I love condiments. Sauces are not optional in my life, they’re the main character. Taino’s had their traditional sauce situation, which I believe is mayo con ketchup, and it paired perfectly with the yucca fries. Crispy, flavorful, and dangerous in the best way.

Of course, I tasted everybody else’s food too, because that’s just responsible behavior. Everything was slamming. Sandwiches, pastries, no weak links. You have to try the Cafe con Leche. It’s magic in a cup and the perfect pick me up.

Why this is a must if you’re in the Orlando Kissimmee area

If you’re anywhere near Orlando or Kissimmee, this is a must do. Not a filler meal. Not a “we’ll see.” A real stop on your trip. They do have other locations, but I only visited the one at 4150 West Vine Street, so I can only speak on the plus size friendliness of this specific spot. That said, if the other locations operate anything like this one, I’m confident you’ll be just fine.

Taino’s adds authenticity to your trip. It doesn’t feel touristy. It feels rooted. It feels intentional. It feels like a place built for the community that welcomes everybody in. If you go, don’t forget to tell them Shapely sent you. Taino’s is located at 4150 W Vine St, Kissimmee, FL 34741. Their phone number is (407) 482-2404 and you can check out their website by visiting tainosbakery.com.
